Hi all- welcome to another blog post!
One of the most common questions couples ask vocalists is whether to choose a wedding singer or a full wedding band. Both options can work beautifully, but the right choice depends on your venue, budget and the atmosphere you wish to create!
A solo wedding singer such as myself is often a flexible and more cost-effective option, particularly for intimate ceremonies and daytime celebrations. A vocalist can adapt volume levels, move easily between spaces with ease, and create a relaxed, intimate feel. This is ideal for venues with noise restrictions or smaller guest numbers!
Wedding bands, on the other hand, can also be excellent for high-energy evening parties where a fuller sound is wanted. They often require larger spaces, higher budgets and longer setup times, which can be a consideration depending on your venue and vision.
Many couples choose a combination, with a live singer such as myself for the ceremony and drinks reception, followed by a band or DJ in the evening. This approach gives variety and helps manage costs while still offering live music at key moments. I personally can also highlight that solo wedding singers are also capable of filling a room and getting the party started- but we are also more than happy to hand over to a band should this suit you as a couple best!
The most important point is to match the entertainment to your day, rather than following a set rule! A professional wedding singer can advise on what will work best for your venue and guest profile. Hope this helps!
